Plastic Free Life

This are ten things I would give up to help have a plastic free life

Give up chewing gum
When ordering pizza, say no to the little plastic “table” in the middle of the pizza box.
Make your own snacks.
Wash laundry with soapnuts or laundry powders without a plastic scoo
Avoid disposable plastic pens.
Choose lotions and lip balms in plastic-free containers.
Look into plastic-free sunscreen options.
Don’t forget your headphones.
Take care of what you have already.
Avoid buying CDs and DVDs.

Perform (at a Rimu Hui) a dance that you have learnt

On Thursday 21 of March, 5 girls and I went and showed our house our cheer leading dance infront of house hui. We had only been practicing for a few weeks and were still tweaking some of the moves and getting it to perfection. It was our first time infront of a crowd so we were all a bit nervous. It was a success just a few things we had to work on timing was the most thing we have to work on.

Here is a video of us doing our cheer leading

Care for younger children: Organize a series of games or activities for younger siblings or neighbors or teach them a dance or an instrument.

Today I went to Greeton Pools to help Greenpark do there swimming sports. It was a long day but it was fun watching all the kids swim and having heaps of fun. There was a group of about 10 who went to help from my school. We all got into partners and helped time the kids there was heaps events, there was 10 events and the 10 year 8 even got to participate in the last event. Which was a relay, the year 5 and 6 students got a head start to make it fair but we over take them and we come home winning. Which was cool but we were all pretty nervous that we were going to get beaten but it seemed that the GreenPark students didn't mind.

You can see in this picture the bright green and other color tops that was Tauranga Intermediate helping with the timing

This was the email I sent to the deputy principal of Greenpark school.

Hi Mr Mischew
I am Brooke from Tauranga Intermediate and I helped out out Green Park swimming sports today. For part of my homework I had to...Care for younger children: Organize a series of games or activities for younger siblings or neighbors or teach them a dance or an instrument.
So I emailed my teacher and said yes that does count but you need evidence to support I did help. I was wondering if any photos were taking of the day? If so may you please send me some so I am able to post them on my blog and write about it. Also I will give you the link to my blog so you are able to see the photos and also see what I have written about it. My blog can viewed by anyone in the world.
I had fun today and joining in on the last race. Thanks, please send photos (if any) to the same address this email was sent by.

Thanks, Brooke Aldridge

Improve your study skills: Research Rimu- where do you find it? Why is
it important to Māori? What uses does it have? Why is Rimu the best tree in
the school?

Where do you find the Rimu tree?
You can find Rimu trees down in the South Island as they are more popular down there. You can find Rimu trees in a forest and in a native forest.

Why is it important to Maori?
Because it is one of the native plants in New Zealand.

What uses does it have?
  • The Rimu tree can be dissolved and help cure head aches and internal bleeding
  • Rimu can be made into furniture
  • The juice from the cut the stem of Rimu is said to encourage hair growth when directly applied to the scalp.
Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?
Because Rimu is awesome

My trip to Horse of the year

On Tuesday I went to Horse of the Year. It was packed with horse floats and people. We watched the show jumping they were jumping a 1m 30. Katie McVean got a clear round in the 1m 30 class. When watching the Show Jumping every person who entered the ring was different, jumping a different style or fast pace, slow pace. Seeing someone complete a clear round and going onto the second round and completely mucking it up and getting eliminated. The dressage was very fancy, the horses in the ring with perfect striding and everything. There was heaps of side stalls with big sales on. We also watched the 1m 15 Show jumping and some of the girl compete looked like they were only 10 years old.
It was my first time going to watch Horse of the year and it was such an awesome thing to see.
